In conjunction with the DWP and Jobcentre Plus

Sector-based work academies help prepare those receiving unemployment benefits to apply for jobs in a different area of work. Placements are designed to help meet employer immediate and future recruitment needs to enable them to recruit a workforce with the right skills to sustain and grow their business. WE work in partnership with the DWP and Jobcentre Plus to facilitate programmes for employers.

WorkAdvisor will work with you to support you whilst you are on programme and participants remain on benefits while on a SWAP placement. The government will pay any travel and childcare costs whilst benefit claimants are on the scheme.

How does it work?

A sector-based work academy can last up to 8 weeks. Placements have 3 main components:

Pre-employment training

Matched to the needs of the business sector

Work experience placement

A great opportunity for you to demonstrate to an employer your talent, knowledge and understanding of the role required.

A guaranteed job interview

We can even offer help with an employer’s recruitment process
